Stat.
Stat is the concept for a projection onto the iconic façade of the Basilica of San Petronio, the main church in my hometown of Bologna, Italy.
It shows a collection of designs that were produced through the centuries for its completion and never realised.
The event takes place in the summer, when a stage and the biggest screen in Europe are built in the main square, impressively overlooked by the church. The stage ACCOMMODATES the orchestra playing Gioacchino Rossini’s Stabat Mater, while the screen accompanies the projection on the façade by showing the entire designs - as the lines exceed the limits of the church’s silhouette - along with the authors and years of execution.
Each design is showed in chronological order, a sequence that culminates in a graphic palimpsest of all that could have been and never was.
